  • Self Consumption:

In the self-consumption mode, the system will prioritize the PV power usage and avoid getting the power from grid. The first priority is to provide the power to the load and second priority is to shift the power to the battery for charging. If come with residual power, for PPA program customer, the system will back feed the power to the grid for ROI.

  • TOU-Charge/Discharge:

More and more utility companies are applying the TOU peak rate programs for home owners. In DC coupled TOU mode, XH system will prioritize the source of load consumption based on peak hours and off-peak hours. The system will use the PV free energy to provide the power to the grid and if there is residual power, it will charge the battery from PV. If SOC of the battery is sufficient and PV power is low, battery power will energize the system without PV power or balance with PV power. If both PV and battery power are low, as the last option, it will use AC grid power to energize the load which can minimize the usage of AC grid power to reduce the electricity bill.

  • Backup:

In the DC couple backup mode, the system will not use the AC power for any demands. The system will optimize the PV and battery power to provide the power to the load and battery. Typically, the backup mode is running for emergency grid outage or holiday travel purpose to ensure no AC power to be taken to the home. The system will be based on PV condition and the SOC of the battery to maintain the operation for the load.

  • Zero Export:

In Hawaii and some of the States, the utility company prohibits the back feed power to utility side to ensure the stability of grid. In DC couple zero export mode, XH system will automatically avoid feeding the power to the grid and first priority is to provide the power for the load and secondary is to provide the power for battery charging based on battery SOC.
